There are Three Parts to this Introduction:

Part II: How Integral Lifts Leadership Consciousness
Part III: Tools and Resources for Integral Leaders
Part I: An Introduction to Integral Theory and Practice
Integral Theory and Practice.
Here are some wonderful resources that have emerged from the Integral world that has sprung forth in recent years, primarily because of the seminal contributions of Ken Wilber. I simply do not have words to express how enormously helpful all of this has been to me. Rumi wrote, "The angels are lost in perpetual contemplation of an infinite glory." Those who are contributing to the Integral movement around the world are becoming angels.

Ken Wilber and "Integral Theory and Practice" - He is the one from whom I continue to learn and learn.
I'm indebted to Ken Wilber for giving me a map of everything. In fact, if you click on his name above, you will be taken to his website, where you will find his four quadrant model represented in a "+" sign. Think "Atwood +"
I spent seven years in graduate schools, learning much about the ideas crafted by many gifted people. Those ideas have given great form to the culture that birthed me, and nurtured me.
In 1980, I heard a call to move on, and I did. In 1995, I was introduced to Ken Wilber by a Roman Catholic Priest. I read everything Wilber had written, and I have followed him and the Integral Movement with some faithfulness. I admit, regretfully, that I have not been able to keep up. No one has stimulated my mind and heart more than Ken Wilber. His Integral Theory and Practice has had an enormous impact on my understanding, and my behavior, in the world. Every day I use Wilber's model as it has been developed by him, and adapted by countless others in many fields.
The video (a number of paragraphs down this page) "Ken Wilber - I am Big Mind," will provide you with a wonderful peek into who Wilber is, how he teaches, and something of the essence of his passion. He is my age, lives in Denver, and has a huge and growing internet presence. Click on this link "Ken Wilber," and begin your search. Or, go to IntegralLife.com. In fact, I recommend that you go there and sign up for a nominal fee and begin to avail yourself of the enormous amount of input that is being produced around the globe and collated at IntegralLife.com. I signed up years ago and yet value the depth and variety of learning that I find there.
Go to Amazon and search books by Ken Wilber. Start with A BRIEF HISTORY OF EVERYTHING. Then get the little book THE INTEGRAL VISION which is the best summary, done with lots of cool images and photography. INTEGRAL SPIRITUALITY is a classic, and INTEGRAL PSYCHOLOGY has been enormously helpful to me in my clinical work. There is just so much. Dense stuff and not everyone "gets it."
Let me also suggest REVERENT IRREVERENCE by Tom Thrasher. You will find it below. Thrasher is really, really smart and he is a UCC pastor who does a wonderful job explaining Integral Theory.
If you ever want to talk about Integral Theory and Practice, contact me. I would cherish the opportunity. I'm trying to be a faithful member of the Integral Salon that meets monthly in Grand Rapids. Such gatherings are popping up all over the world. Integral Theory is, after all, a theory of everything.

Part II: How Integral Lifts Leadership Consciousness
Integral Leadership Aids "Conscious Leadership"
One of the four core tenants of CONSCIOUS CAPITALISM is Conscious Leadership.
The most conscious among us would be right at home with Integral Theory and Practice.
It is about perspectives. Integral Leadership gives you the most perspectives you can possibly generate.

My model of leadership is organized around the "Integral Leadership Framework," which is the the most comprehensive model for leadership ever created. Integral Theory has been around for a few decades and now is being moved from theory... to practice. In fact, 2012 was the tipping point for that shift globally. I'm part of theIntegral Leadership Collaborative, one of thousands of people connected on the web, interacting around how Integral Theory is applied to leadership in the sciences, politics, spirituality, art, education, and so much more.
Integral Leadership is about "AQAL: all quadrants, levels, lines, states and types." It truly is the most comprehensive model of leadership available.
If you are interested in learning more about this emerging and exciting field of Integral Leadership, I suggest you look at the pdf files that follow here. Each was taken from the Integral Leadership Collaborative, a link to which you can find below.
Alternatively, you can go to IntegralLife.com by clicking here. Do so and you will be taken to a delightful introduction to Integral Theory.
Sometimes I coach a Leader on the job, and sometimes we sit in my office and work together. And then, sometimes we use Facetime, Skype or Google+.
Where you need to grow will be different from where the Leader down the street needs to grow. We start with you, where you are, and we design and re-design steps for you to take so you can grow as an Integral Leader. One size doesn't fit all, and so you and I would have to put our heads and hearts together, to artfully craft with skillful means a plan that will take you one-half step ahead of where you are now.
To do so would bring me enormous gratification.
The link below will bring you to The Integral Leadership Collaborative, a website where a community of people has gathered, each devoted in their own unique way to expanding the world of Integral Leadership.
Brett Thomas and Russ Volckmann - "THE LEADERSHIP MANIFESTO"Some background on the authors.
Brett Thomas is the co-founder of Stagen, the leading consulting firm when it comes to Integral Leadership. Stagen is a boutique firm dealing with very high-end clients. Brett Thomas has been active in the Integral Theory community since the late 1990's and has worked extensively with the founder of Integral Theory, Ken Wilber, to bring theory into practice.
Russ Volckmann is, among other endeavors, the publisher of the online resource, Integral Leadership Review. I first encountered Russ when I was invited to do a book review of Kegan and Lahey's book, Immunity to Change. You can find my review below.
None of the articles have bylines, but I do believe they all were written by Brett and/or Russ, with a lot of help from a lot of other people in the Integral Leadership Collaborative global community. I emailed Russ and asked him when this all was going to be put into a book, and he told me the project was on hold. Brett has moved to a part-time relationship with Stagen. He is pursuing his original dream which was to bring Integral Leadership to the masses.
