There are two primary resources presented here. Both are robust and have some depth. Taken together they point to the leading edge of our human evolution and thus, a path forward during these tumultuous times. Beyond dualistic thinking, beyond the combative arguments, there is a way to move from either/or... to both/and thinking and acting.
Ken Wilber is one of the founders of Integral Theory and I've been reading and working with his material since 1995. You can learn much more at www.IntegralLife.com, which is the portal for all things Integral.
Below there is a file you can download which contains 3 pages from Wilber's ebook, and in those pages he outlines the stages of adult development and how they align with our political parties. Before you stop to read the download, read below on the meaning of the colors used by Wilber.

Clare Graves formulated Spiral Dynamics as a way of describing and working with evolving worldviews. Rather brilliantly, he used colors as representatives of the many complexities that mark each stage of human development. Click here for the best summary of which I am aware, on Spiral Dynamics.
Graves used BEIGE to PURPLE to RED to BLUE to ORANGE to GREEN to Second Tier YELLOW to TURQUOISE.
Wilber uses the colors of the spectrum, and so his model moves from INFRARED to MAGENTA to RED to AMBER to ORANGE to GREEN to YELLOW to TEAL to TURQUOISE to INDIGO and beyond to CLEAR LIGHT.
While confusing, it is important to remember that the color systems used by Graves and Wilber are compatible, with Wilber going into deeper detail and outlining higher stages of normal human development.
Now, it is important to consider Polarity Management as a technology, a tool that can be used to help people with different worldviews to communicate with each other and to evolve toward more integrated solutions.
There is a paper below that can be downloaded, which I wrote, that explains Polarity Management in some detail.
When I'm working with a group of people, or even a couple, I am looking for the one person who can be less reactive and more open to thinking creatively. I'm looking for that person on each side of the dilemma because they are the ones who can break free from the rigidity of their side of the polarity. Conversations with them, alone or in front of their people, can begin to introduce a bigger worldview that includes the upside and the downside of both poles.
Opening dialogue is critical. From there a new level of consciousness can emerge, and new realities can be created.
